The Carioca 1 is the tournament played by the main football teams in Rio de Janeiro. Together with the Paulista championship, it is one of the most important tournaments in Brazil, since renowned teams such as: Flamengo, Vasco da Gama, Fluminense and Botafogo participate. These 4 clubs are the ones that have won the most trophies. 
12 teams participate and it is played in two rounds. Then the final is played between the winner of the first round and the winner of the second round. But if the same team wins both rounds, they are automatically declared the champion.
