It is believed they were inspired by Birmingham City during a visit to Barcelona in the 1920s. At that time, the club experienced its golden age and was one of the founding members of the League. In 1923, they were also Copa runners-up. In the 1990s, they achieved a milestone by winning the Catalonia Cup against Barça twice, repeating this feat in 2015 against Girona. In addition, the club has a highly renowned women’s football section.
