The Club Estudiantes de La Plata was founded on August 4, 1905 in the province of Buenos Aires. In 1913, Estudiantes became the first La Plata team to take the amateur First Division title. 
In 1967 Estudiantes won its first Metropolitan Championship. They got their participation in the 1968 Copa Libertadores, where they eliminated the Colombians of Millonarios and Deportivo Cali, Independiente and Universitario, of Peru; and in the semifinals, to Racing Club, but the glory reached it before the Palmeiras of Brazil in the Centennial of Montevideo, this title allowed him to dispute the Intercontinental Cup against Manchester United that also won it.
