The 23 de Agosto stadium is home ground of Gimnasia y Esgrima de Jujuy since 1973. The name of the stadium is because on that date was the Exodo Jujeño (exodus) in 1812 when the local people went to Tucuman running away from the war.
The stadium was remodelated in 2010 for the 2011 Copa América. Nowadays, 23 de Agosto has a capacity for 24.000 spectators, though for important matches there were 35.000 people.
